Dantri/DTiNews readers donated VND126.2 million ( USD5,000) for a nine-year-old girl in the central province of Ha Tinh who is being taken care of by her ailing paternal grandmother after her father’s death.
The donation came after an article about the condition of Nguyen Nhu Hanh, 9, from Can Loc District’s Vuong Loc Commune, had been published in the newspaper.
The donation was granted to the family on October 19
Hanh’s parents divorced when she was small. Since the marriage breakup, she lived with her father Nguyen Van Tai. In 2016, Tai took Hanh and her mother Nguyen Thi Tri, 76, to Phu Quoc to live. He hoped that he could find a better job there.
In 2019, he was diagnosed with brain cancer. His relatives jointly donated money to help him with the treatment.

Despite great efforts during the two-year treatment, his condition worsened and he died in August 2022.
Hanh’s grandmother is now her only mainstay as she has been abandoned by her mother.
Tri expressed her deep thanks to the public for their support.
