Under the recommendation, the first project connecting Thu Thiem area in HCM City and Long Thanh International Airport would run for 37.5 kilometres and cost VND40.56 trillion (USD1.76 billion).
Meanwhile, the second running from Trang Bom Station to Cai Mep-Thi Vai Port in Vung Tau City in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province would cost around VND50.82 trillion (USD2.20 billion).
The two lines, which will be carried out under a public-private partnership, were named in the province’s list of projects to call for foreign investment in the 2021-2025 period. They are also added to the national railway development plan between 2021 and 2030.The two railways are intended to ease traffic congestion on the HCM City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway, National Highway 51 and the planned Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway.
Once approved by the prime minister, the province would quickly conduct the pre-feasible study of the projects.
