Len Seo Canh, 23, Trinh’s husband said that since being hospitalised, the couple’s meals have been sponsored by a pagoda and doctors. He added that his wife needed urgent surgery to save the baby, but the fees were very costly. Trinh is also battling with serious anaemia.
After her story was published, many people have joined hands and donated to the family VND562m. The representative of Dantri and Vietnam-Germany Hospital transferred the money to Trinh on April 22.
"I don't know what to say but thank you," Canh said. "When she gave birth and I saw my daughter, I thought I was dreaming. I thought I would lose this child for sure."
The child is being taken care of at the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Amid the outbreak and in order to take care of his wife, Canh couldn't look after his daughter directly.
Dr Lai Thanh Tung from the Oncology Department said, "At the 32nd week of pregnancy, we realised that if there was no intervention the mother and child would be in grave danger. So our doctors and the doctors from the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology worked together on the surgery. The baby weighed 1.3 kg at birth."
The doctors are discussing further treatment for Trinh since her situation is complicated.
Nguyen Thi Phuong, an employee at the Social Work Office at the Vietnam-Germany Hospital, said, "We are all very moved and thankful for everyone's help. This is not only precious financial support but a huge motivation for the patient."
