Dak Lak expressway project accident leaves two dead

A serious workplace accident at the Quy Nhon-Chi Thanh Expressway construction site in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak has killed two and injured one.

The incident occurred at around 11 am on August 11 at the expressway section running through Tuy An Bac Commune. The Thang Long Company are the project’s main contractor with the Duy Phong Company as the subcontractor.

Duy Phong Company hired seven local workers to build a stepped spillway on the expressway. At around 9 am on August 11, 2025, while spraying concrete from a mixer truck onto manually erected formwork, the structure collapsed. A group of four male workers fell to the foot of the slope and were buried under the concrete.

The incident left two of them dead at the scene, one aged 45 and the other aged 55. Meanwhile, another was injured and taken to Phu Yen General Hospital for treatment.

The 61.7-kilometre Quy Nhon-Chi Thanh Expressway runs 19.6 kilometres through Gia Lai Province and over 42 kilometres through Dak Lak Province, starting at National Highway 19 and linking the Hoai Nhon-Quy Nhon and Chi Thanh-Van Phong expressways.
