Covid-19 infections remain high in Vietnam

Vietnam has continued to report high number of Covid-19 infections with 7,930 more cases confirmed on Wednesday, according to the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry's report, 7,918 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 59 out of 63 localities in the country including HCM City (1,414), Dong Nai (848), Binh Duong (627), An Giang (450), Tay Ninh (435), Tien Giang (396), Kien Giang (327), Soc Trang (298), Binh Thuan (287), Dong Thap (274), Bac Lieu (234), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (191), Dak Lak (181), Ca Mau (180), Vinh Long (157), Can Tho (139), Long An (132), Binh Phuoc (131), and Khanh Hoa (122). There were 12 imported patients confirmed today.

The new infections showed a decrease of 211 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 3,999 infections found in the community.

As of Wednesday evening, 987,758 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (442,630), Binh Duong (240,974), Dong Nai (74,913), Long An (36,122), and Tien Giang (19,099).

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 992,735. The country now stands 37th among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.

On November 10, an additional 1,254 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 844,054.

On Wednesday evening, a further 79 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 22,765. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (43), Binh Duong (9), Long An (4), Tien Giang (4), An Giang (4), Dong Nai (3), Dak Lak (2), Tay Ninh (2), Kien Giang (2), Bac Lieu (2), Khanh Hoa (1), Binh Thuan (1), Vinh Long (1), and Can Tho (1).

Vietnam on November 9 administered more than 1.64 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 93.96 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 31.15 million people having received two doses.
