A health worker conducts Covid-19 testing in Hanoi
According to the ministry's report, 3,513 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 41 localities including HCM City (1,067), Binh Duong (782), Dong Nai (662), An Giang (128), Binh Thuan (109), and Kien Giang (94). There were 15 imported patients confirmed today.
The new infections showed a decrease of 999 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 1,211 infections found in the community.
As of Sunday evening, 835,036 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (410,128), Binh Duong (222,082), Dong Nai (54,989), Long An (33,303), Tien Giang (14,541). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 839,662. The country now stands 41st among 222 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On October 10, an additional 21,398 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 782,199.
On Sunday evening, a further 113 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 20,555 . The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (82), Binh Duong (12), Ninh Thuan (6), Long An (4), Dong Nai (3), Tay Ninh (1), Binh Phuoc (1), Dak Nong (1), Dak Lak (1), Ca Mau (1), and Ba Ria - Vung Tau (1).
The country has so far conducted over 53.23 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 14.97 million people having received two doses.
