Le Thanh Binh, chief office manager of Nam Tu Liem District People’s Committee, said that the square would create more public space for people and help connect other sports facilities in the area such as the national stadium and F1 racetrack.
According to Architecture Tran Huy Anh from the Hanoi Architects Association, the square construction is necessary to help ease the city’s public space shortage, particularly My Dinh areas is home to many land plots which have still been left idle.
Anh, however, added that it was essential to ensure the transparency of the project.
