Ambassador of Vietnam in Russia Nguyen Thanh Son
The event was jointly held by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia, State Committee of the Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, BIDV Bank and Hanoi-Moscow Trade Centre Investment Joint Stock Company.
The conference is part of a series of events to promote Vietnamese businesses and the forthcoming Eurasia Economic Union (EEU) Free Trade Agreement.
Ambassador of Vietnam in Russia Nguyen Thanh Son, Deputy head of Ministry of Industry and Trade, Do Thang Hai and over 150 Vietnamese businesspeople from around the world attended the conference.
BIDV Chairman Tran Bac Ha said there were about 5.2 million Vietnamese people working and living across the globe. They could provide estimated remittances of USD13 billion this year and overseas Vietnamese businesspeople are participating in 5% of FDI projects in Vietnam.
Ha and other attendees agreed that overseas Vietnamese businesspeople should work more closely together, while the Vietnamese government should encourage ties through better policies.
David Nguyen, an American-Vietnamese businessman hoped that there should be clearer explanation to how to get support from Vietnamese banks in the US.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade promised to report back from the conference and see what could be done to ensure Vietnamese goods found it easier to enter the world market.
