The coffee houses, which are situated by the railway section running from Dien Bien Phu to Phung Hung streets in Hanoi, have attracted many visitors, particularly young people.

The Ministry of Transport has asked Hanoi authorities to remove coffee shops located by a railway section in Hanoi due to safety concerns
To meet the increasing demand of tourists, services have been mushrooming there. Most of the houses by the railway have been turned into food, water stalls or coffee shops with eye-catching decorations to lure customers.
However, these activities violate traffic safety regulations amid the country’s considerable rise in railway accidents.
Households who live along the railway section also have a temporary market there, posing latent dangers.
Under the Ministry of Transport’s instructions, Hanoi has to remove services along the railway section and are increasing public awareness about traffic safety.
The city also needs to ensure railway safety in planning residential areas.
The ministry has urged Hanoi to discipline leaders of localities in case railway violations happen in areas under their management.
