According to Huynh Van Khuong, Deputy Party Secretary of My Thang Commune in Phu My District, torrential rain and high tides between 7:00 pm Wednesday and early Thursday morning, caused erosion of the local beach.
Some erosion areas are as deep as 3–4 metres and are located near households
On Wednesday evening, 20 local households were brought out of the area to ensure safety. The rescue force has been arranged at erosion sites.
Local authorities said that this was the first time the beach has suffered such erosion.
Over the past few days, Binh Dinh has faced heavy rain with the highest rainfall being up to 210 mm. Flash floods and landslides have been warned for mountainous areas.
