Coal mine accidents kill three Vinacomin miners

Three coal miners of Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) died in two coal mine accidents over recent days.

Deputy head of a firm’s workshop Nguyen Van Chi, 36, died on October 2 from suffocation as air ventilation had not been installed while he was checking the production at a pit at Vang Gianh Coal Company.

Last year, nearly 30 Vinacomin staff died in coal mine accidents


Vinacomin provided VND20 million (USD909) for his family, while Quang Ninh Province gave VND6 million (USD272.7).

Earlier on September 29, two miners of Duong Huy Coal Company were buried in an accident in Cam Pha City.

The victims are Nong Van Tong, 35, in Quang Ninh Province and Luu Van Nham, 29, in Lang Son Province.

The coal industry has seen 14 fatal fatalities so far this year.

Last year, nearly 30 Vinacomin staff died in coal mine accidents.
