According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, major distributors from Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Taiwan, Guangxi and Yunnan have confirmed attendance at the Vietnam International Sourcing 2025 (VIS 2025), which will take place from September 4 to September 6 in Ho Chi Minh City. The event aims to connect Vietnamese suppliers with international buyers seeking high-quality produce.
Among the most notable participants is Pagoda Group (BGY Fruits), China’s largest fruit retail chain with more than 5,000 outlets in over 180 cities. The company considers Vietnam a strategic procurement hub, targeting durian, coconuts, bananas, dragon fruit and jackfruit.
Pagoda has been expanding its sourcing in Vietnam while supporting local partners in standardising growing areas and developing premium fruit product lines.
At the border trade level, companies from Yunnan and Guangxi have registered interest in durian, longan, coffee, tea and cashew nuts, seeking stable supply and traceable origins to channel products directly into China’s domestic retail chains.
The Ministry’s Department of Overseas Market Development said the participation of diverse buyers highlights the growing appeal of Vietnamese fruit and processed farm products among Chinese consumers.
For durian, customs data show that Vietnam’s exports reached USD 387 million in the first five months of 2025, down nearly 58 per cent year on year. However, in May 2025, durian exports jumped 139 per cent from April, with shipments to China surging almost 208 per cent as the sector complied with that market’s regulatory requirements.
