The accident occurred at about 10.15 am when the vessel struck a bridge span in Bien Hoa.
Six motorbikes travelling across the bridge were knocked over against the railing following the impact. Several people were injured, including two who were taken to hospital.
The collision also displaced the railway track and damaged the bridge’s road railing.

Ghenh Bridge carries both railway traffic and motorbikes, linking Cu Lao Hiep Hoa island in Bien Hoa with the mainland.
The bridge has previously been involved in a major accident. In March 2016, a barge crashed into the structure, causing part of it to collapse and sending several motorbikes and riders into the river. The railway sector later rebuilt the bridge in its current form.
