A total of 70 photographs taken by Indian photographer, filmmaker, and art historian Benoy K. Behl are being displayed at the exhibition to provide viewers with an overall perspective of Buddhist monuments and art heritage from the earliest time and to understand more about the life of Buddha: his birthplace, enlightenment, first sermon, and final renunciation.The photos were taken in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Buryatia (Siberia), Kalmykia (Russia), China, Mongolia, Japan, Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Indonesia.
Benoy has taken over 35,000 photographs of monuments and cultural heritage sites in Asian countries and directed more than 100 documentaries on the history of art. His works have been showcased in 28 countries around the world and warmly welcomed by international friends. He is well-known for his extremely sensitive photography of Buddhist art, which provides a deep insight into the gentle and compassionate message of the art.
The exhibition is open from Monday to Friday from 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm at the Indian Cultural Center, 63 Tran Hung Dao Street, Hanoi. Entry is free.
