The couple arrived in Hue on Vietnam Airlines’ flight VN0054 in early March which experienced a Covid-19 outbreak. Hayley then tested positive for the virus and was sent to Hue Central Hospital for the treatment. A short time later, her husband also contracted the virus.

They stayed at two different rooms of Hue Central Hospital, but could not meet each other for a month. After being discharged from the hospital, they were very happy. They left Vietnam for their country on Wednesday.

In the letter, Kevin said “Hayley and I have received excellent medical care and all of the medical staff (doctors, nurses, administration etc) have been very professional and just as importantly, very kind to us”.

They also extended their thanks to the chairman and the people of Hue for the assistance to them during the particularly difficult time.

Earlier, British Ambassador to Vietnam Gareth Ward thanked the Vietnamese government for supporting UK citizens affected by the Covid-19 epidemic.
