A four-year-old boy in HCM City died in a 20m fall after becoming entangled in the line of a kite in the Dong Dieu area in Hooc Mon District of HCM City.

Witnesses said the boy was fascinated by an 18m flag-shaped kite that was being prepared to fly, but no one noticed when he got too close and became entangled in the line. It took off in a gust of wind and he was carried aloft
The boy’s mother, who was opening a water store she had run for many years, heard his screams and tried to chase the kite to grab the line, but he fell before she could bring it down.
The kite was being prepared for practice ahead on Kite Festival in Vung Tau Province.
