Blue-ear pig disease has recurred in the two central provinces of Nghe An and Quang Tri, as of April 14.

From April 7-10, blue-ear disease had been detected in Nam Thanh, Xuan Thanh and Trung Thanh communes in Nghe An province, said the Veterinary Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
The number of pigs known to be infected in the district since March 31 has reached 1,160, all of which have been destroyed, said the department.
Meanwhile, in Quang Tri Province, in late March the disease also been detected in the communes of Hai Son and Hai Thanh.
Among the 100 known infected pigs in Quang Tri, around 30 have been destroyed so far, said the department.
Also, according to the department, bird flu has reappeared in five locations, while 23 cities and provinces have reported cases of foot and mouth disease within the past month.
In March, MARD’s Animal Health Department warned that foot-and-mouth disease, bird flu and blue-ear syndrome are becoming more pervasive nationwide.
In late January, Vietnam announced that it had blue-ear in pigs and bird flu under control.
