Tan Son Nhat was ranked 8th in the list of the world's worst airports in a survey hosted by the Sleeping in Airports website and it was ranked 4th in the Asia's worst airports list. General complaints focused on rampant bribery demands, poor Wi-Fi signals, dirty toilets, lack of restaurants and their variety and troubles with hailing a taxi.

Lai Xuan Thanh, head of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, said they had started inspections and would create a checklist of standards to improve the service quality. This would be done by December 15.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam reported that they had upgraded the Wi-Fi system and would install more routers by December 20. The Pan Pacific Company, which provides hygiene service at Tan Son Nhat Airport, has been warned. The authorities will also crack down on state-owned cars that are flouting airport drop-off and collection point regulations.

The airport staff's attitude, especially the security teams, will be improved. Other problems such as damaged plane seats or lack of chairs in the waiting areas will also be addressed by the end of the year.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the international terminal and the runway will be expanded in May and August, 2016 respectively. They will also open new drop-off and collection point for domestic terminals this year.
