Artillery shells found in fields in Hue City

Residents in Hue City have discovered two unexploded artillery shells while working in fields, highlighting ongoing risks from wartime remnants.

Local authorities in Dan Dien Commune said the incidents occurred on March 12 and March 27, when residents in Lai Ha and Tram Ngang hamlets found rusted metal objects suspected to be explosive devices.

Police were dispatched to the sites, instructing residents not to touch or move the objects and setting up warning measures around the areas.

Authorities later coordinated with the city’s mine risk reduction project team, which confirmed the objects were artillery shells left from the war. The explosives were safely collected and disposed of in line with regulations.

Officials urged residents to remain vigilant and avoid handling any suspected unexploded ordnance, advising them to report such findings promptly to local authorities.
