Tighter measures have been implemented to prevent the spread of the virus in HCM City. Passengers at Tan Son Nhat Airport and Saigon Station have been asked to fill in medical declarations and had body temperature taken. Starting from April 4, the city authorities will also test all passengers.

According to the city Centre for Disease Control, about 400 people at Tan Son Nhat Airport are tested every day. When more passengers arrive at Tan Son Nhat Airport, they will be quarantined and tested later. Similar measures will also be taken at the train stations. Passengers will be quarantined until their tests come back negative.

The authorities have set up 62 checkpoints leading to the city to limit travel via road, rail and water. 16 main checkpoints and 46 sub-checkpoints will help monitor the number of people arrive in the city at the airport, stations and ports.

Employees from the Department of Public Security, Department of Health, Department of Transport, City Food Safety Management Board, HCM City Military Command and the traffic police will be at the checkpoints.

They must make sure that travellers follow the social distancing rules, monitor the traffic, whether the public is following preventive measures suggested by the Health Ministry and deal with violators.
