
Speaking with Dantri Newspaper, Chairman of Lao Cai Province People's Committee, Trinh Xuan Truong, said the landslide happened at 1.39 pm on October 10, burying eight houses in Nam Tong Village.
Rescue forces had found seven bodies in the debris," the official said, adding that the number of missing people have not been confirmed yet.
Earlier the same day, another landslide also occured at the Dong Nam A Hydropower Plant, leaving four staff members dead and one other still missing.
Meanwhile, the horrific landslide that occurred in Lang Nu Village on Tuesday morning had buried 37 households with 158 people.
By 2 pm on September 11, 30 bodies had been found in the debris, 17 people had been injured while rescue forces were still searching for 65 others who were reported missing at the site.
As of 13:30 on September 11, the death and missing toll caused by Typhoon Yagi and flash floods and landslides in several northern localities rose to 296 people, including 155 dead and 141 missing.
Lao Cai province reported the highest toll with 53 deaths and 102 missing.
