More than 5kg of rhino horns were seized by customs officers at Tan Son Nhat Airport yesterday while being smuggled into Vietnam
Customs officers and policemen found six rhino horns weighing over 5kg hidden in the baggage of a passenger on a flight operated by Vietnam Airlines from Paris to HCM City.
In his declaration, the owner of the rhino horns said he was not aware of the value of the rhino horns which he said he brought home to use as traditional medicine.
Airport customs officers said these rhino horns, which are listed as goods banned from being imported to Vietnam, are worth VND6 billion (US$285,000)
