CAAV sent an urgent notification to Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Jetstar Pacific and Bamboo Airways about their plans to resume domestic flights from April 16 to 30. CAAV issued the notification after several airlines announced that they will resume flight routes after April 16 and customers could find more details on their websites and other official ticket sale channels.

CAAV confirmed that the airlines must get approval to resume flights from April 16 as a preventive measure against Covid-19. The airlines should submit requests on April 14 for review if they want to open any flight from April 16 to 30.

The local airlines have stopped most of the flights to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Since April 1, the number of passengers is only 1-2% of pre-outbreak days. Most of the planes have been grounded.

Vietnam Airlines is one of the hardest-hit state-owned enterprises, suffering a loss of VND2.3trn (USD98.5m). In the first three months of 2020, its revenue reached VND19.2trn, a decrease of VND6.7trn compared to the same period in 2019.
