Vietnam announced 10,811 more Covid-19 infections on Tuesday and 7,663 patients recover from the diseases the same day, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, 10,797 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in some localities such as HCM City (4,627 cases), Binh Duong (3,628), Dong Nai (799), Long An (393), Khanh Hoa (203), Dong Thap (162), Danang (153), Tay Ninh (105), Tien Giang (93), Can Tho (72), Hanoi (66), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (64), and Kien Giang (61). Among these new infections, 6,780 cases were found in the community.
As of Tuesday evening, 365,152 locally-transmitted cases have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country on April 27, with some southern localities recording high infections such as HCM City (184,872), Binh Duong (77,053), Dong Nai (19,110), and Long An (18,586). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 369,267. The country now stands 66th among 222 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On August 24, an additional 7,663 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 162,279.
Also on Tuesday evening, a further 348 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 9,014. The deaths were reported in HCM City (292), Binh Duong (35), Dong Nai (4), Dong Thap (3), Tien Giang (3), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (2), Soc Trang (2), An Giang (1), Ben Tre (1), Binh Dinh (1), Binh Thuan (1), Ninh Thuan (1), Quang Nam (1), and Thua Thien Hue (1).
The country has so far conducted over 17.64 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 1.92 million people having received two doses.
