Authorities in the northern city of Hai Phong are searching for seven missing crew memebers after the Vietnamese-flagged cargo-ship Hoang Thinh 8 capsized off the province on Wednesday night.
At 11:30am on September 6, after being informed of the sinking, the Cat Ba border post deployed a rescue team to the scene and saved two crewmen.
According to local officials the vessel, with a capacity of 2,722 tons, left Nam Dinh northern province at 1:00pm on September 5 and was sailing to Quang Ninh province to receive a shipment when it sank the same evening.
The victims are Pham Hai Toan, 58, Luu Van Doanh, 66, Luu Minh Duc, 34, Luu Van Long, 18, Luu Van Khanh, 23, Nguyen Van Thom, 42, and Nguyen Van Thanh, 23.
