On October 28, Lai Chau police, in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Security, detained 44 men and 15 women at Bokor Hill in Kampot Province, Cambodia. 26-year-old Sung Thi Mai allegedly led the group from Bao Thang Commune, Lao Cai Province.
Investigators said the suspects ran various online scams, including impersonating delivery workers, police officers, military personnel and romantic partners, to defraud victims across Vietnam.

Following the raid, Cambodian authorities handed over all 59 suspects and seized evidence to the Lai Chau police for further investigation. So far, 66 people have been detained in connection with the case.
Police in Lai Chau are completing procedures to transfer the suspects through a border gate adjacent to Cambodia for continued investigation and further expansion of the case.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long directed the operation, with Deputy Minister of Public Security, Major General Nguyen Viet Giang, and Director of Lai Chau Province’s Police Department providing coordination from specialised units.
