The man, 36, and the woman, 32, who both have the Vietnamese nationality were found with eight pieces of rhino horn in their luggage. They hid the horn in cosmetic boxes, boiling kettle and biscuit boxes.

According to the officers, they are the horn of the rare African white rhino.
Since early this year, Tan Son Nhat International Airport’s customs officers have worked closely with police and have detected three cases of illegal trading of wild animal products.
Last month, a Vietnamese man was also detained at the airport for smuggling 1.5 kilos of rhino horn valued at around VND2 billion (USD90,000) into the country.
Earlier in April this year, Tan Son Nhat officials also seized five kilos of rhino horn from two passengers flying from Africa and over four kilos of elephant ivory jewellery and pangolin scales on a flight from Angola.
