According to the ministry's report, eight of the new patients including five women and three men aged between 24-35 returned from Russia on November 11 at Cam Ranh Airport in Khanh Hoa Province.
They were sent to a quarantine area in HCM City upon arrival and are now being treated at the Cu Chi Field Hospital for Covid-19 patients.
Earlier, 16 other people who boarded this flight had been infected with coronavirus and are now being treated in Khanh Hoa Province.
Two other male patients aged 22 and 23 arrived from France at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on November 11.
They were sent to a local quarantine area upon arrival and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on their second testing on November 25.
The two patients are now being treated at the Cu Chi Field Hospital for Covid-19 patients.
With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 640.
As of 6 pm on November 26, a total of 1,166 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.
The country has gone 84 days without reporting any new case in the community.
At present, over 15,000 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
