The museum covers 74.30 hectares, including a five-floor building.
Costing VND2.50 trillion and utilising modern technologies, the museum is expected to offer new experiences for visitors who can better interact with the exhibits.
Many old wartime aircraft from the old city centre museum have been relocated to the new site.

The exhibits are organised based on six themes: the early days of the country's founding and defence; defending the country's independence between 939 and 1858; fighting against the French colonists between 1858 and 1945; the US War from 1954 to 1975; and Rebuilding the country from 1976 to the present.
