Spring Ecotourism Area, located in Tan Phuoc Hung Commune of Can Tho, has recently emerged as a popular destination for nature-focused travel experiences.

Spanning about 130 hectares, the site features expansive melaleuca forests, dense vegetation, interlacing canals and a rich ecosystem of native fish and bird species.

Visitors typically explore the area by boat, weaving through waterways and forest corridors while observing wildlife in its natural habitat.
The boat route stretches roughly 4 kilometres and lasts from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on visitor preference. Along the journey, travellers can encounter species such as waterhens and wild bees nesting among the trees.

According to Nguyen Van Tam who have worked at the site for years, surveys conducted in cooperation with forest rangers recorded more than 200 animal species living in the area, including around 50 species of storks, some considered rare. A dedicated section of forest serves as a breeding ground for the birds, which leave at dawn to feed and return in large flocks late in the afternoon, filling the sky and transforming the otherwise quiet forest into a lively spectacle.

One distinctive sign of long-term bird habitation is the pale colouring of tree trunks and branches, marked by nesting activity.

International tourists make up a large share of visitors. A group from France, visiting Vietnam for the first time, selected the site as their opening destination, praising the cool air and the experience of travelling by small riverboats through the forest landscape.

Operators say tourism activities are developed with minimal environmental impact, focusing on preserving the forest’s natural condition while protecting birdlife and freshwater species. Regular patrols, monitoring systems and dry-season fire prevention measures are carried out in coordination with local forest management authorities.
The ecotourism area frequently partners with travel companies, hotels and resorts to bring guests after visits to nearby attractions such as Cai Rang Floating Market. On average, it welcomes 400 to 500 international visitors each week, while domestic travellers tend to visit independently.
