This year, organisers suspended all motorboats, replacing them entirely with hand-rowed boats to reduce emissions and noise, and to create a quieter, more nature-friendly environment for pilgrims.

Le Van Trang, chairman of Huong Son Commune People’s Committee, said the Huong Pagoda Festival is one of Hanoi’s largest spring events, attracting large numbers of visitors for worship and sightseeing at the start of the year. This year’s festival will run until May 11.

According to organisers, nearly 136,000 visitors arrived at the Huong Pagoda Complex in the first five days of the Lunar New Year. On February 21, more than 51,000 people visited, boosted by favourable weather.
