Authorities in Tay Ninh Province have submitted a proposal to Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of Construction, and the Government to include the Bau Bang–Moc Bai railway line in Vietnam’s national railway master plan.

The proposed line would span 57 km, with a standard gauge of 1,435 mm, a track width of 12.5 m, and a right-of-way of 40 m. It would start at Tan Hung Station in Ho Chi Minh City, run parallel to the Binh Duong-Tay Ninh highway, and end at Moc Bai Station in Tay Ninh. Of the total length, 27 km would run through Tay Ninh and 30 km through Ho Chi Minh City.

According to Tay Ninh People’s Committee, the railway would boost passenger and cargo transport between the two localities, while also linking to eco-tourism development along the Saigon River and Dau Tieng Lake.

The project is also expected to enhance industrial growth and logistics capacity at the Moc Bai border gate economic zone and surrounding areas, creating spillover benefits for the entire Southeast region.
