Phu Quoc International Airport reported on February 23 that it operated 767 flights over the nine-day Tet holiday from February 14 to 22.
Of these, 371 were domestic services and 396 international, representing a 46 per cent increase compared with the same period during Lunar New Year 2025.
Total passenger throughput reached 260,473, including 116,830 domestic travellers and 143,643 international arrivals and departures, up 37 per cent year on year.
Nguyen Ba Quan, director of Phu Quoc International Airport, said it was the busiest Tet period in terms of growth since the airport began operations in 2012. It also marked the first large-scale capacity stress test since operational control was transferred to Sun Group.
“As Phu Quoc aims to become an international coastal city and prepares for major upcoming events such as APEC 2027, effectively managing peak periods like Tet serves as a foundational test,” Quan said.
“It enables Phu Quoc International Airport to move forward with confidence as an independent international gateway.”
