
At Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, authorities said the airport would handle 1,037 take offs and landings throughout the day as travellers return to work following the Tet break.
The heaviest pressure is on arriving flights, with nearly 100,000 passengers expected, mainly residents travelling back from northern and central provinces.
Departures are also busy, serving more than 70,000 passengers, including a significant number of international visitors.
The newly-operated Terminal 3 is scheduled to receive 459 flights carrying nearly 67,000 passengers, while the international Terminal 2 is running close to full capacity with more than 300 flights and around 60,000 travellers moving through arrival and departure procedures.
Airport officials forecast that traffic could continue to set new records in the final days of the Lunar New Year holiday, as workers across the country return to Ho Chi Minh City and neighbouring industrial hubs.
