
The line operated 1,801 services between February 16 and 22, meeting 100 per cent of its schedule and carrying 571,528 passengers, equivalent to 94.4 per cent of the same period in 2025.
Passenger numbers increased steadily over the holiday, rising from just over 50,000 on the 29th day of the lunar year and climbing from the first day of Tet, fuelled by leisure travel to central wards.
On Lunar New Year’s Eve, the operator added 20 late-night services between 12.30 am and 2 am to accommodate post-fireworks crowds. Ridership peaked at 96,320 on the fifth day of Tet, February 21.
Cashless payments accounted for about 71.8 per cent of transactions during the holiday, while cash payments made up 23.2 per cent. Around 5 per cent of passengers used national ID cards to pay fares.
Operating hours were extended from 5 am to 11 pm, with additional staff deployed and security and passenger flow controls strengthened, particularly at three central underground stations.
According to Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Company 1, services operated smoothly and safely throughout Tet, with no major security incidents or disruptions reported.
