Thanks to favourable weather, local growers have a bumper crop.

Many kumquat gardens are bearing golden fruits and the locals are busy trimming the kumquat pots before being handed over to traders.

Cam Ha Commune in Hoi An is the largest ornamental kumquat growing area in the central region. During Tet, tens of thousands of ornamental kumquat pots in the commune are supplied to the market.

Many kumquat pots have been ordered by traders quite early.

The branches heavily laden with fruits pose a risk of collapse, so locals have to trim and remove some of them.

Nguyen Van Thanh from Cam Ha said that his family’s garden has 500 kumquat trees with many booked by traders last month. Each kumquat tree is priced at VND2-4 million.

Trimming branches requires skilland it is very important to create good shapes for kumquat trees.

Having ornamental kumquat trees during Tet has become a tradition. The trees are also a symbol of health, peace and longevity.
