Peach blossom bonsai trees are among the most popular decorative items during the Tet celebration. Many gardens care for the trees after the festival.
Nguyen Van Quang, 60, has a garden of over 1,000 square metres in Ha Tinh City and has over 20 years of experience growing peach blossom trees.
"Many of my customers who bought or hired my trees for Tet decoration have contacted me again, asking us to collect and take care of the trees for the next season," Quang said. "We've brought some 150 trees back here for replanting."
The farmer shared that, depending on their size and variety, caring for bonsai trees for the next Tet costs several hundred to millions of VND.
"Our work includes trimming, forming the shapes, and giving different kinds of fertilisers, growth stimulants, and pesticides to ensure that the trees grow well and produce blossoms right on Tet," he said.
Another farmer, Le Van Dung, 55, shared that replanting the trees after the holiday is the most important but also the most difficult step.
"The trees may easily die if not given proper care after being repotted, transported, and placed in unfavourable weather conditions," he explained. "So we have to focus on trimming and giving them enough nutrition so they can develop again."
