Fishing ports in Quang Ngai, such as Sa Ky, Tinh Ky, and Tinh Hoa, are currently bustling with activity as boats continuously dock to sell their catch to traders.
After nearly a month at sea, dozens of fishing boats are lined up at Sa Ky Fish Port in Binh Son District. Some have made a successful catch, earning hundreds of millions of VND.
Vo Dung from Binh Chau Commune said his boat caught 10 tonnes of fish, including bonito, tuna, and mackerel, after a 22-day offshore trip. Each kilo of bonito is sold for VND40,000 to 80,000, while mackerel costs VND100,000 per kilo. Each crew member earns about VND10 million from the trip.
Fishing boats operating closer to shore also had a successful catch. At Tinh Ky Fish Port in Quang Ngai City, small boats returned with anchovies and mackerel after just one night at sea.
Transporting and sorting fish helps provide an income to people in nearby fishing villages, who earn around VND400,000 to VND500,000 a day.
According to Nguyen Thanh Hung, Chairman of the Binh Chau Fishing Association, the final fishing season of the year has been more productive for local fishermen than previous periods. Fishermen have earned a higher income due to higher seafood prices and stable fuel costs.
At Tho Quang fish port in Danang City, fishermen have returned with tonnes of seafood.
Traders flock to the port to buy seafood products.
