On April 15, the Management Authority for Urban Railway said they were speeding up the ground clearance, compensation and resettlement tasks. 602 households are affected by the project, 108 of them have been compensated and 53 have moved out.

The land prices and compensation rate were approved by the HCM City People's Committee on March 27 for the households in District 1, 10, 12 and Tan Binh and Tan Phu districts. The authorities are reviewing the compensation rates for the households in District 3.

From April 13 to 18, the local authorities have announced the detailed compensation plan to gather public opinion. A meeting will be held to deal with any complaints 20 days later.

It is expected that all households will move out in June so that the construction can be started in October.

Up to 28 utilities agencies are affected. The Management Authority for Urban Railway has worked with the managers on the relocation plan for each unit.

A separate team has been set up in order to speed up the ground-clearance, compensation and resettlement work. The Department of Natural Resources and Environment is working with related agencies each member's role and responsibility before submitting to the Department of Internal Affairs.

The Metro Line 2 Project has an investment of over USD2bn which is funded by ADB Bank, KfW Bank, and EIB Bank and the city's reciprocal capital. It is scheduled to be completed in 2026. The metro line will be over 11km long including 9.1km underground and a 1.9km elevated section. There will be nine underground and one elevated station as the line will run through six districts and connect with metro lines 1, 5, 6 and 3b.
