
Dau Thi Thu Trang, 22, is a final-year student at Vinh University. She was preparing to become an English teacher when one of her eyes suddenly developed problems two months ago.
The young woman was shocked when doctors said that she had cancer in her right eye. The cancer developed very fast and when she was transferred to a specialist hospital in Hanoi, where doctors said that they were unable to conduct surgery to remove it.
Trang was also too weak to get radiation therapy or thermotherapy treatment. Trang’s parents, who are seasonal workers with modest incomes, took her home in Do Luong District seeking some herbal medicine for her. She is having to take regular painkillers.
After her situation was published on Dantri/Dtinews, many readers and kind donors sent money to support Trang.
On September 3, representatives from Dantri and local authorities visited Trang and transferred VND 136,493,216 which readers sent to the newspaper's charity fund to help her.
Receiving the donations, Trang expressed her sincere thanks to Dantri Newspaper and kind donors for supporting her in this difficult time.
"I've received so much love and support from people in and outside the country after my story was shared in the newspaper," Trang said. "I've so far received over VND850 million sent to my bank account. Many other individuals, charity groups and organisations have also visited and shared their sympathy and presented gifts to me. Thanks to your support, I can continue my treatment and hope for a better future. I'm really moved and thank you so much once again."
Joining the delegation, vice-chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, Le Hong Vinh, also expressed his thanks to Dantri Newspaper and kind readers for supporting Trang and many other difficult cases in the province.

The official encouraged Trang to try to have positive thinking to overcome the disease and believed that she could receive proper treatment with support from many kind donors.
