A hill in Duc Trong District, Lam Dong Province, is facing a widening crack, necessitating the urgent relocation of vulnerable households.

The crack on the pine hill in Quang Hiep Village, located at an elevation of 10-40 metres, stretches approximately 80 metres long. In certain areas, it extends 1-2 metres deep into the ground, with openings measuring 1-3 metres wide, posing significant threats of landslides.

The Lam Dong Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue has requested that Duc Trong District quickly evacuate at-risk households to ensure their safety.

If residents choose to ignore the request, forced relocation will be the only option. They will be allowed to return home only with the approval of local authorities, underscoring the seriousness of the situation.

Duc Trong District's authorities have been urged to tighten control over construction activities in the area to prevent and promptly tackle violations in sloped areas and steep embankments.

The pine hill with the fissure in Quang Hiep Village covers an area of around 35 hectares and is managed by the Duc Trong District People's Committee. At the foot of the hill is a designated agricultural zone and 11 homes of local residents.
