Hanoi has proposed expanding Metro Line 3 Nhon-Hanoi Station-Hoang Mai route, which would require a total investment of VND40.57 trillion (USD1.75 billion).

The extended section will be 8.7 kilometres long and put underground, linking Hanoi Station and Hoang Mai District’s Tam Trinh Street. It will have seven stations.

Of the total investment capital, loans from the Asian Development Bank would account for USD801 million, followed by the KfW Development Bank with USD258 million, the French Development Agency with 198 million and the remainder from Hanoi’s reciprocal capital.

Once approved, the project is expected to be finished by 2029.

Metro Line 3 is designed to have a total length of 26 kilometres. The elevated section connecting the Nhon area in Bac Tu Liem District and Cau Giay Street in Cau Giay District has become operational. The Cau Giay-Hanoi Station is scheduled to be put into use in 2027.
