The Thanh Hoa provincial project would cost some VND2.12 trillion to expand Tho Xuan Airport in the 2022-2025 period, including Terminal 2’s construction. Once completed, Terminal 2 could serve five million passengers a year.

The airport’s Terminal 1 is expected to surpass its design capacity of 1.2 million passengers per year by the end of this year.
The expansion plans are also part of the national airport development planning for 2021-2030 submitted by the Ministry of Transport to the government. However, the planning has not yet been approved.
According to the CAAV, the Ministry of Transport could allow Terminal 2’s investment procedures to go ahead so the project can swiftly proceed once planning is approved.
Tho Xuan Airport has been used for civil aviation activities since February 2013. The airport serviced 671,000 passengers in the first five months of this year.
