Foreign fishing boat breaks apart on Phu Yen beach

A Taiwanese fishing boat was broken in half by rough seas after drifting onto a beach in the southern central province of Phu Yen.

According to the Phu Yen Border Guard Force, the boat was found on the beach in Hoa Hiep Bac Ward in Dong Hoa Town on February 2 with four fishermen on board, including three Taiwanese and one Vietnamese.

The boat broke in half on the Hiep Hoa Bac Beach in Phu Yen 

It broke in half on the Hoa Hiep Bac beach at around 6 pm on February 9 after being hit by violent waves.

The Phu Yen Border Guard Force said that the boat departed from Taiwan and suffered an engine failure on February 6 while fishing near the waters of Ly Son Island in the central province of Quang Ngai before drifting into Phu Yen.

The Phu Yen Border Guard Force rescued the four on the boat and handed them over to the Phu Yen Department of Foreign Affairs for assistance.
