Vingroup names world's largest stadium after VinFast

Vingroup has renamed the world's largest stadium, with a capacity of 135,000, as VinFast Stadium, linking the landmark venue to its electric vehicle brand.

Vingroup has announced VinFast as the official name of the world's largest stadium, a 135,000-seat venue under development within the Hanoi International Sports Urban Area. The stadium had previously been known as Hung Vuong Stadium.

According to the conglomerate founded by Pham Nhat Vuong, naming the venue after VinFast is intended to celebrate Vietnamese resilience, innovation and national ambition in a new era, while promoting Vietnam's image as a modern and prosperous country on the international stage.

The company said the new name would also showcase a dynamic, forward-looking Vietnam and help raise the global profile of one of the country's best-known brands.

With a planned capacity of 135,000 spectators, VinFast Stadium is designed to become the largest stadium in the world. Its architecture draws inspiration from the Dong Son bronze drum and the mythical Lac bird, both enduring symbols of Vietnamese culture and history.

The stadium will serve as the centrepiece of the Hanoi International Sports Urban Area, a development covering approximately 9,200 hectares and planned as an international-standard sports and urban complex.

The project is intended to support the expansion of Hanoi's southern urban area while complementing major transport infrastructure, including Ring Road 4, the Ngoc Hoi transit-oriented development (TOD) hub, the North-South High-Speed Railway, the national railway network and the city's urban railway system.

The wider development will also include large-scale sports, tourism, service and ecological facilities, together with an international-standard sports complex and Olympic villages capable of hosting major regional and global sporting events, including the Asian Games (Asiad) and the Olympic Games.
