The delay was confirmed by VFF Vice Chairman Nguyen Lan Trung in an interview with Dantri/DTiNews reporter.

Preparations for the congress have almost been completed but the VFF has decided to delay the event because of several unfinished official nomination procedures.  To date, dossiers for Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Khanh Hai and VFF Vice Chairman Le Hung Dung, who are both candidates for VFF chairman position, have not yet been sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The VFF also made mistakes in the recent tally for the selection of 23 people from 41 candidates for the federation’s executive board. It has been requested to explain its errors to the General Department of Sports and Physical Training.

According to the vote, both Dung and Hai both received 18 votes, but after a recount Dung received 19 votes.

In addition, VFF Chairman Nguyen Trong Hy will send a team of the federation officials to join a FIFA meeting from May 28 to June 2. At this meeting, FIFA will inform changes in its member federations, and therefore the VFF wants to absorb these changes before holding the congress.

The VFF vice chairman said the delay would have little affect its preparations for SEA Games 27 and plans in 2013.

Vuong  Bich Thang, Head of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training said the department had requested the VFF to clarify the vote mistakes, however, until the mid-day of May 22, but the federation has yet to have sent a report.

“If this is just accidental mistakes, we will only remind the VFF to pay greater attention to their work. However, if there are signs of unfairness, we will take disciplinary measures, depending on the level of the violations. This is the internal case for the VFF, but we are its management agency, so we have to intervene,” Mr. Thang noted.
