Runners connect with Hau Giang's culture and tourism at the Mekong Delta marathon
Runners will compete in 1.2km, 2.4km, 5km, 10km, 21km, and 42km races, Hau Giang province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said on June 10.
Beyond the races, a variety of activities will be held, including a tree planting festival, a photo exhibition highlighting culture, sports, and tourism, and an exhibition of books, calligraphy, and local tourism products. Additionally, a fair with 250 booths will offer One Commune One Product (OCOP) firms a platform to showcase their goods.
Organisers will also arrange tours for both domestic and international runners, allowing them to explore ecological sites and experience indigenous culture.
First held in 2019 with over 4,200 local and international participants, the tournament has seen significant growth, attracting 8,500 runners in 2022, 9,000 in 2023, and 10,800 in 2024. The event typically draws athletes from countries like Thailand, Japan, Singapore, and India.
