He lifted 163 kilogrammes to finish second, reaffirming his status as one of the region’s leading para athletes.

Indonesia’s Abdul Hadi took gold with a lift of 179 kilogrammes, while Kazakhstan’s Yerbolat Karibay secured bronze at 157 kilogrammes.

The championships, held from April 7 to 12, have attracted 249 athletes from 23 countries and territories, making it one of the region’s major para sport events this year.

Despite being in the later stage of his career, Le Van Cong has maintained strong form and competitive drive. His latest result contributes valuable ranking points ahead of major competitions, including the 2026 Asian para games and the 2028 paralympic games.

Born in Ha Tinh Province, Le Van Cong is widely regarded as a symbol of Vietnam’s para sport movement. He made history with a gold medal at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, the country’s first in the event.

He later won silver at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics and bronze at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, cementing his place among Vietnam’s most accomplished para athletes.
