A special exhibition and outdoor film screening programme titled Echoes of the 1975 Spring Victory will take place on Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street in HCM City to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (30 April 1975 – 30 April 2025).
The event is scheduled to open at approximately 6.30 pm today, April 25, and will showcase a selection of significant Vietnamese films that honour the historic milestone.
As part of the programme, public film screenings will be held at 7.30 pm on April 27 and 28, featuring the acclaimed titles The Abandoned Field and The City at Dawn. The screenings will be preceded by a discussion with cinema experts. Audiences will also have the opportunity to meet the cast and crew of Tunnel – Sun in the Dark, directed by Bui Thac Chuyen.
Echoes of the 1975 Spring Victory is one of the key cultural highlights in a broader series of events organised across the city to mark the golden jubilee of Reunification Day. Celebrations include various cultural and sporting activities at major venues such as the square in front of City Hall, Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street, and along the Saigon River near Bach Dang Wharf Park.
City officials have encouraged residents and tourists alike to take part in the festivities, which reflect both historical remembrance and the city’s vibrant contemporary cultural life.
