Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh has approved a master plan for the conservation, restoration and rehabilitation of the Chi Lang Historical Site in Lang Son Province.

The plan covers a total study area of 2,428.83 hectares, including the Chi Lang Historical Site with 24 nationally special relic sites spanning 284.23 hectares and 22 nationally recognised relics covering 150.41 hectares, the Chi Lang Temple area of 100 hectares, and a 1,894.2-hectare landscape zone linking the planning areas.

The core planning area totals 198.81 hectares, comprising a 98.45-hectare primary protection zone and a 100.36-hectare secondary protection zone. It encompasses all protected areas of the 24 component relics of the Chi Lang special national site and is divided into five clusters.

The clusters include sites such as Ba Dan Village, Ngo The Rampart, Ba Dang Mountain and Quan Nang Temple in Cluster 1; Ma Yen Mountain, Ky Lan Mountain and Bau Citadel in Cluster 2; Ma San and Phuong Hoang mountains in Cluster 3; Quy Mon Temple, Ai Chi Lang Rampart and Trong Citadel in Cluster 4; and Lang Trung Pagoda and Chon Ruot Hill in Cluster 5.

It also seeks to define land-use functions and indicators for heritage zones, residential areas and ecological protection zones, while preserving and promoting the site’s outstanding values as a centre for patriotic education and national pride.

Under the tourism-oriented development strategy, both international and domestic tourists are targeted, with domestic visitors identified as the key market.

The project will invest in developing Chi Lang into a central tourism hub and a growth driver for Chi Lang commune, linking it with tourism sites across Lang Son, the wider region and international destinations.
